COMMENCEMENT DATES Please check the
Commencement Dates page.
The ELS commencement dates are according to the Provincial Schools dates. This is necessary in the ELS as we often have a number of families.
SCHOOL LEVELS IMPORTANT: Each quarter lasts for 10 weeks. Each quarter there will be a number of levels offered, so it is possible to start and finish when it suits you, providing you start at the beginning of a quarter. You may choose to study for as little as one quarter, but we recommend you aim to study for one year. All new students will be assessed during the first week and the staff will then advise the student as to which level he/she would be wise to begin. It is usual for a student from a second or third world country to start on Level 1 or 2.
The ELS offers the following levels. The availability of each level will depend on the number of students and the availability of staff. These levels can change every quarter as every student is different.
Level 1 - This is a level for students who have a very limited knowledge of Grammar and very little spoken English.
Level 2 - This is a level for students with basic Grammar and a limited ability to speak English.
Level 3 - This is a level for students with a reasonable knowledge of Grammar and an ability to be understood in English.
Level 4 - This level aims to enable the student to study, preach and teach in basic English.
Level 5 - This level is an extension of level 4.
